“It is joy to be hidden but disaster not to be found.”
- D.W. Winnicott
Healing begins when we’re able to make sense of our experiences – the ones that have felt too overwhelming, and the ones that keep us feeling stuck in our lives. A vital part is beginning to find the words to express what before seemed inexpressible.
Important to our healing is another person. Many of our deepest struggles
develop within our relationships, so it may be difficult to work through them alone. Counselling offers a space where these sensitive experiences can be explored, felt, and understood openly, with the safety of a professional.
My approach is founded in object relations psychoanalysis and seeks to understand how our early relationships continue to shape our emotional life, sense of self, and ways we relate to others. Together, in exploring past and present experiences, we begin creating opportunities for greater self-awareness, emotional freedom, and enduring change.
I completed my Master of Science in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from Trinity College Dublin in Ireland. I went for my education in Europe specifically, as I wanted to learn from psychotherapists who were experts in feeling, understanding, and working with emotion therapeutically. Safe to say, I was quite happy with my decision.
My specialization was in neurological impairment, specifically frontal brain damage related to issues in emotional regulation and memory. Through my work, I learned not only how to work with these people, but also neurologically healthy people who oftentimes feel worried throughout their day or cannot make sense of their feelings. Therefore, in my work with people, I particularly attend to feelings or ideas which at first may seem odd, and gradually we can hope to make sense of them together.

I was born in Surrey, BC, and from a young age I have always gained a lot of enjoyment from playing sports. Mostly between softball and ball hockey, I was always looking for more opportunities to be active and, with the recent addition of badminton, I still find the time to play these games routinely.
Though other than playing, I often umpire high-level fastpitch, both men’s and women’s, and have been refereeing for over a decade. It’s thrilling as an umpire to perform alongside these skilled athletes, and to constantly give my best to call a fair game. Additionally, I have worked as a financial advisor, and it has been fulfilling to help people learn the basics about the financial system in Canada.
Newer interests for me now include reading about depth psychology, appreciating stand-up comedy and improv, and practicing music from time to time. Also, after living in Ireland for a few years, I’ve really realized my love for the BC wilderness, and hope to have more experiences hiking and tenting in the outdoors.
